The Story
This is a story that happened between two cities, Taipei and Beijing, a story about eight lonely souls searching for happy endings. Everything that happened and every sacrifice that was made was all for love.

Ni (Amber Kuo) comes from a wealthly family. As the captain of a bicycle racing team of the college, everything seems perfect until the day she finds out that her life tangles in a three-person relationship. Ni’s best friend Yi Jia (Ivy Chen) is pregnant with her boyfriend, Kai (Eddie Peng), after a one night affair.

Betrayed by her boyfriend and her best friend, Ni is going crazy. She needs answers. Kai realizes that he has made the biggest mistake of his life, but he is in love with Ni. Running away is not the answer. He needs to get her back. All this while, Yi Jia is also torn by this situation, and decides that she will end this by getting an abortion. But after a series of wild emotional rampage, Ni realizes that she is not the only victim and her loving nature makes her admit that she can’t afford to lose either of them.

Mr Lu (Doze Niu), the father of Ni, is a successful middle age businessman who lives by a glamorous lifestyle with a charming movie star girlfriend, Zoe (Shu Qi), by his side. However, when Lu is ready for marriage, he finds out that Zoe is no longer infatuated with him. In fact, Zoe is a lonely woman who needs someone to wake her up from the vanity around her. When she meets waiter Kuan (Ethan Ruan), the brother of Yi Jia, she is attracted by his sweet personality and life of wisdom. Between Mr Lu and Kuan, Zoe faces the biggest choice of her life.

Lu’s business partner, Mark (Mark Jau), is from Taipei. Mark is a ladies' man, and he always and only dates women who are young, beautiful and chic. His fondest memories are from living with his father, who has passed away, in the Chinese old-style courtyard house. Therefore, after his business success, Mark always wanted to buy a Chinese old-style courtyard house in Beijing.

Xiao Ye (Vicki Zhao) is a single mother working in Beijing as a real estate agent. She is not young, nor is she stylish. She spends most of her time and energy taking care of her five-year old son. One day, Mark who is looking for a play to buy, meets Xiao Ye. In the process, Mark starts to develop feelings for Xiao Ye and also her son.

What is love? Different people have different definitions for it. Love also evokes different emotions for different individuals, depending on the experiences that they have encountered. Directed by Doze Niu (also starring himself), this movie attempts to explore the different definitions, different encounters and different emotions that love entails.

A trio of love triangles forms the spine of this highly entangled plot; most of the characters have links to more than one person. The movie begins with Yijia (Ivy Chen) using a pregnancy kit in a toilet. She shows the result to Kai (Eddie Peng) who meets up with his girlfriend Ni (Amber Kuo), who is Yijia's best friend. The trio's relationships are thrown into doubt when it was revealed that Yijia is carrying Kai's baby.

Ni's father (Doze Niu), a wealthy businessman, is romancing a socialite Zoe (Shu Qi) who is enjoying life's pleasures as a kept woman. However, the emptiness deep down inside of her is expanding day by day until she meets Kuan (Ethan Juan), who happens to be Yijia's brother. Facing a dilemma, Zoe goes in search of her true identity.

Rewinding back to the second scene, Zoe actually sets up a date with Mark (Mark Chao) at a luxury hotel. Mark is the business partner of Ni's father. Handsome and wealthy, Mark has no problems hooking up with girls. But during a trip to Beijing to view a courtyard house, he has an encounter with real estate agent and single mother Xiao Ye (Vicki Zhao) whose young son takes a liking towards him. Will sparks fly between Mark and Xiao Ye?

With an established cast of Mark Chao, Ethan Juan, Eddie Peng, Shu Qi and Vicki Zhao, this movie is definitely not short of star power. And it is this variety of good-lookers that lights up the big screen. On top of that, Shu Qi impressed with her versatility as a kept woman, a woman who is truly in love and a career-minded woman. As her character develops throughout the movie, one could feel the progression of her emotions at each phase.

There is no other word that can encapsulate the meaning of love and its complexities. But this Valentine's Day, let us show some love, in whatever way possible.
